(Terecita Vega)I think that the Muslims should have the right to be able to build the mosque, because how it was mentioned in the class discussion this is a state where there is the Freedom of Religion. In the Declaration of Independence it states that no matter the religion or where you come from everyone has the right to practice their religion freely. This is one of the main reasons why most immigrants came from all parts of the world and migrated to the United States where they are able to practice their religion. The government would only be corrupt if they don't allow the Muslim mosque to be built on ground zero. Everyone that lives in the United States should have the right to practice their religion regardless of where they decide to do it.
Yet there has been plenty of controversies of how the mosque is like a symbol of victory or revenge of nine- eleven. But what people aren't understanding is that not all Muslims are guilty of what a group of terrorists did in New York. Why are people judging by just the fact that they are Muslims and are from the same race as the terrorists. Its isn't fair because we don't have the right to profile individuals by how they look or because of their beliefs. If they were to build they mosque on ground zero people would be very much unhappy and would most likely riot but they have no reason for it. Just like every other religion we are able to practice our religion without any complications, so why aren't the Muslims being allowed to build the mosque.
I think that the mosque should be able to be built on ground zero. The could help to prevent any other attacks. If the mosque is built in ground zero it could symbolize peace with each other. We can start making peace and start making deals with each other and in the future we can rely on each others support. This country can not afford having any more problems because we won't allow the Muslims build their mosque on ground zero. We should just give them the opportunity to prove to us that we can really have peace with each other even with our differences.
